Our Story
Her First Foundation was founded by Sahana Khokha during her sophomore year of high school after she recognized a painful truth: women experiencing domestic violence and homelessness are disproportionately affected by menstrual health challenges and maternal mortality rates. As she learned more, Sahana realized that access to basic health resources is not a privilege but a lifeline, one that far too many women are denied.
Determined to change that, she created Her First Foundation to combat the stigma, inaccessibility, and inequity surrounding menstrual and maternal care. What began as a late-night idea in her bedroom quickly grew into a movement rooted in dignity, compassion, and action.
Today, what started with one teenage girl’s vision has reached more than 1,100 women and distributed over 12,000 menstrual and maternal care products to those in need. The foundation has expanded to include six chapters and thirteen ambassadors across four countries and three continents, each working toward a shared mission to ensure that every woman, no matter her circumstances, is supported through life’s defining firsts.
Her First Foundation stands as a testament to the power of empathy and youth-led action, proving that real change often begins with one person deciding that enough is enough.
